It is my great pleasure to announce that the authors of this blog are all going to be speaking at the Tumbleweed Workshop in Durham, NC the weekend of July 28!
On July 7, I got an email from Lee at Boneyard Studios, informing me that they were going to be speaking at the DC Tumbleweed workshop that day, and that I was invited to speak as well! I did not check my email until late that afternoon, and immediately upon reading it I hopped on my bike and rode down to the AIA headquarters. I caught the tail-end of Day 1, and returned the next afternoon to give a thrown-together talk of my own. It was well-received, and I felt like I was able to share valuable information from our build with people who were invested in the subject matter. So gratifying!

I’m geekin’ beside Deek.
Afterward, Bridget, the coordinator, asked if Zach and I would have any interest in speaking at the Durham workshop. Durham is halfway between Charleston and DC, and could not be a more perfect place to convene. As it turns out, Cedric and Andrea are returning from their months-long bicycle trip around Europe a mere three days before the workshop. Serindipity! They arrive in DC by bus, and we three will road trip down and meet Zach for some serious tiny house nerd time. We are all looking so forward to sharing pictures and stories of what we have accomplished, with people who will be able to use the information to achieve their own goals!

Hi friends,
I heard that you all use a two bucket system for your toilet needs, one for yellow and one for brown. How do you fit this into your bathroom? Do you have a toilet seat or just buckets? What do you do with the liquid?
In appreciation,

We’re building a two 5-gal bucket “cabinet”, with cypress and mahogany seat (two holes). It’s key to separate #1 and #2. The former is used to supply nitrogen to our kitchen scrap compost. I will definitely post a photo when done.
